hello,

my son is due to be christened on 7th june this year, i have chosen his godparents and i have done so based on their morals and values, and the love they have for my son. The godmother is a practising, confirmed cathoilc and was born into a catholic family; her husband however is a muslim, they have been married for 15 years. would this be a problem for him to be a godfather? as there is no one else i would rather choose.

tashy,

Congratulations! These links should explain why a non-Christian may not be a sponsor or an official witness for a Catholic Baptism, and what you can do when you you have two people you’d like to be godparents, but only one is eligible. If you have any further questions or concerns that are not answered by these links, please contact Catholic Answers directly.
