Hello,
Next sunday is Pentecost, and I wanted a Mass for my brother to be celebrated. So i ask myself, can a priest celebrate such a mass during Pentecost (already a solemnity, so the celebration is somehow reserved for it?)

Thank you!

Generally, Masses for the dead are not permitted on Sundays.

However, the priest can still celebrate the Sunday Mass (in this case, Pentecost) for the deceased; it just cannot be the Mass texts entitled “for the dead.”

In other words, the intention of the Mass can be for your late brother, but the prayers and readings must be those of Pentecost.

It might be too late to schedule though, if next Sunday’s Mass intentions are already announced (as most parishes do on the previous Sunday).
