Hey, I’m a cradle Catholic but just now starting to learn about the faith. I’m not trying to sound rude with my question but Im just curious about this one. If anyone knows please respond thanks.
They almost always grant absolution unless you’re visibly unrepentant. I’ve never been denied absolution.Thom I understand that but I dont remember I just kinda walked away and then forgot if he did or didn’t and im kinda stressing out because Im not sure.
So can a Priest give you the Act of Penance if you were not absolved?unrepentant
There wouldn’t be a point. So can a Priest give you the Act of Penance if you were not absolved?
There’s a yes/no answer to this, but first, you need to focus on the important part — you were absolved unless he specifically told you he wouldn’t absolve you and likely gave you a reason. You would certainly remember that. Anyone I’ve ever known that to happen to definitely knew it - they were emotionally agitated by the experience. Trust that you’re absolved unless you specifically know differently, otherwise, you’re treading on dangerous ground of becoming scrupulous. Also, know that forgotten sins were also covered, even though you forgot them. If you recall, you can mention it next time, but that doesn’t change the validity of your absolution.can a Priest give you the act of penance without absolving you or?
As @TheAmazingGrace said, this part wouldn’t have happened without the priest’s intent to absolve.the priest told me to say the act of contrition and then gave me a Penance.
