Can a priest still celebrate Mass if he is in a state of mortal sin?

I was wondering about the question stated in the subject line (and have submitted it to the “ask an apologist” forum).

It is required that the priest consume the Host, correct? And wouldn’t it be sacrelidge if he did this if he was in a state of mortal sin? What do you say?

Of course it is a grave sin to receive Holy Communion in a state of mortal sin. In addition it is also a grave sin to celebrate Mass in a state of mortal sin. It does NOT invalidate the Mass or the Consecration.
