I was wondering what the Church says about rosaries worn around the neck. I’ve gotten conflicting stories. I learned many years ago that a blessed rosary may not be worn around the neck (un-blessed, maybe). Someone else said it depends on the reason the person was wearing it. If it was being worn like a regular piece of jewlery, then it was wrong. But if they were wearing it as a means for salvation, it was OK. In recent years, I’ve been given a rosary scapular (thee were knots making the “beads” of the rosary) to be worn around the neck. I saw one guy get the rosary tattooed around his neck and down his chest. And just the other day, my brother received a homemade rosary made with the purpose of being worn around the neck (fasteners in the middle of the third decade). Is any of this allowed?
