I was married by, and our daughter Baptized by a priest accused of molestation. I do not know his guilt or innocence. If he were guilty and he did this at the time of the Sacraments, are they valid in God’s eyes? Thanks.

As long as he baptized with the correct forum in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost (Spirit) then all should be well regardless of any crimes he may have committed.

There are other threads similar on the subject regarding invalid Sacrements. In particular, usually baptism and the Holy Eucharist seem to be the most questioned.

The sacraments cannot be invalided by the sinfulness of the priest, thank God! As long as the proper matter and the proper form are used the sacraments are still valid under such circumstances. And since we cannot know if the priest intended what the Church intends by the sacrament, the assumption is that he did, although he may be living a life of sin. I hope that helps you and relieves your mind. 🙂

Yes the Sacraments would be valid. Sacraments can be found to be invalid after serious investigation, but NOT for the reasons that you are thinking.

I should have checked my spelling. I meant “FORM” not “forum.” What forums the priest participates doesn’t matter. 😃 :o
