I’m looking at the topic subject line.
Words of Absolution for comfort to a person.
So what is it that makes the words comforting?
I would suggest it’s in the validity of those words. For those words to be used in a way that was invalid to someone at death’s door well that would just be cruel.
I would say a deacon should pray for them offer them words of comfort and assure them that Christ died for their sins. In the same way the laity can not perform burials, read the gospel or give homilies so to a deacon can not consecrate the host or give absolution.

Words of Absolution for comfort to a person.
This is a statement of factGod the Father of mercies,
through the death and resurrection of his Son
has reconciled the world to himself
and sent the Holy Spirit among us
for the forgiveness of sins;
For a deacon to say this would be a lie.through the ministry of the Church
may God give you pardon and peace,
and I absolve you from your sins
in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit
