I have known a few Catholics over the years who have received an annullment of their marriage. I remember both spouses submitting written statements in answers to various questions about the marriage, and their appointed witnesses doing the same. It would seem very easy for one of the parties to be untruthful in their statement and thereby influence the outcome of the tribunal. How can the validity of a marriage be judged in such a carefree way?
