Hoping for it is not the same as asserting it is definite. You might want to read Han Urs von Balthasar’s “Dare We Hope that all Men Be Saved.” We also constantly pray in the mass for all the departed to be brought into the light of God’s presence. It would be a lack of faith to pray for something that we believe can’t happen. Jimmy Akin may love the idea that some are going to wind up in hell, but I don’t share his enthusiasm.
