My wife and I have been married 13 years. We have 4 beautiful children. My wife is from a family of 11 and we always dreamed of having a large family and didn’t want to stop after 4 children as we were financially able to support them all comfortably. After the birth of our fourth child (our only daughter) five years ago, my wife developed a severe form of psoriasis. She tried different medications but was unable to control the illness. She had outbreaks over her entire body, it was a very difficult time for her. As a last resort, her Dr. recommended a drug called soriatane. It was a very strong drug that causes birth defects, even up to three years after a person stops taking it, and the only way she would prescribe it was if were not planning on having any more children. I opted for a vasectomy as I convinced myself that this was out of medical necessity. That was 3 1/2 years ago. Now, a new medication has come out that does not have the birth defect consequences and my wife started taking it six months ago. She’s been off of the soriataine for six months, and we’ve been told that it will be in her system for another 2 1/2 years. At that time, we will both be 41 years old. Should I look at the possibility of having my vasectomy reversed at that time? I"ve struggled with this for quite some time.
