I am a registered nurse in labor and delivery and am working with our physicians to develop a better bereavement program at my hospital. One of my goals is to work with families who receive a diagnosis during pregnancy that their baby will not survive. I want to provide the option of continuing the pregnancy and work with the family to make it meaningful. I’ve considered social work or a masters in nursing, but the idea of a theology degree and being a chaplain in addition to my nursing background is what excites me the most. Is that an unorthodox thing to do?
