Can an aborted child be baptized?

I read in “Get us out of here!!” by Maria Simma and Nicky Eltz, page 120, that in order for us to lift up the aborted child into heaven, the child should be given a name (so that the name could be entered into the Book of Life), be baptized with a “Baptism for the Unborn” or with a Requiem Mass. Maria Simma, an Austrian, had daily visitors from purgatory for many years and filled the book with insights about how we should pray for those Holy Souls. What do you think about it?

That Maria Simma’s alleged private revelations have not been approved by the Church and so Catholics should be very cautious about reading her work. One red flag as to the authenticity of her “revelations,” just from your report here, would be the idea that a child cannot go to heaven unless given a name to be entered into the Book of Life.

An aborted child can be baptized by emergency baptism if the baby is born alive, or if there is reason to believe that the child might be alive. If doubt exists as to whether the child is alive, baptism should be given conditionally. For those infants who die without baptism, the Church entrusts them to the mercy of God:

As regards children who have died without baptism, the Church can only entrust them to the mercy of God, as she does in her funeral rites for them. Indeed, the great mercy of God who desires that all men should be saved, and Jesus’ tenderness toward children which caused him to say: “Let the children come to me, do not hinder them,” allow us to hope that there is a way of salvation for children who have died without baptism. All the more urgent is the Church’s call not to prevent little children coming to Christ through the gift of holy baptism (CCC 1261).
