Can an annointing Mass replace Confession?

My wife attended an Annointing Mass and was told by the priest that all her sins were forgiven. The priest said you could go to a regular confession if you felt the need to “talk” about your sins.

Which brings the question. If you go to the Annointing mass, then what’s the need to go to Confession ??

My wife was perfectly healthy, and attended this mass, which was on the first Friday of the month.
 
Hi,

Receiving the Sacrament of the Anoininting of the Sick does absolve one from sin. But one should only receive this sacrament if one is seriously ill. Since your wife is in good health, she should not receive the anointing.
