If they uphold catholic doctrine, the yes, …they just don’t agree with the changes made in 1960s. They still believe everything catholic! they would probably ensure the child is brought up catholic ( i kinda see them as ‘hardcore catholics’) I would definitly allow sspx to be godparents to my child.

It should not be about SSPX in general, but about whether a given individual should serve as a godparent. Normally the Church relies on confirmation from the individual’s pastor that he is a practicing Catholic.

Attending a chapel not connected to any diocese might not disqualify you, but it might not, by itself, qualify you either.

When that time comes, in all likelihood we will approach the SSPX, as much for practical reasons, as preference for traditional Latin rites
There’s not a Catholic parish in good standing which uses the Extraordinary Form in your region?
HOWEVER, you should be able to appoint a Godmother as Sponsor and your brother-in-law as a Christian Witness (you can still call him the “Godfather”).
No, that’s incorrect. A Catholic who is not qualified to be a sponsor cannot be a “Christian Witness”. That designation can be applied to a non-Catholic Christian, not to a Catholic who has “lapsed” in some way.

Not within 75 miles or so. For some bizarre reason known only to the bishop and his lieutenants, our area is a TLM “dead zone” of sorts. There is one in a great while, arranged by those in full communion with Rome, but for some reason, it just goes “poof” like the pappus of a dandelion. Other parts of the diocese have it, just not us. Go figure.
