so what happened to you Joe?
Sorry for not responding sooner.
About two decades ago, when my life was essentially in the gutter (let’s say most of the choices I made were poor choices and choices that would have damned me to hell if I died), and for the sake of security, I won’t necessarily go into details (you know how things are today)… I was at the
lowest of lows.
It was during my college years, and I remember the event like it was yesterday, the feeling that occurred all over my body when it did. I was slouched in the hallway of my dorm, it was a normal weekend day, with activity all over. No one really paid much attention to my condition; I was down and out (depressed and run down), but lucid (let’s just say that), because I don’t want anyone to think this was some sort of hallucination, because it wasn’t (I had full faculties).
I saw someone out of the corner of my eye walking towards me. I don’t know exactly why he caught my eye or what it was that caught my eye, but I knew something was “odd”. But at the same time I really didn’t go on all that much about caring. He approached me, touched my shoulder, and said these exact words to me, that I’ll never forget, and every time I think about them, I get goosebumps, “Joe, you will be okay.”.
I had never seen this person before, and never saw him again. I have no idea how he knew my name and no idea why he knew I would be okay, or why he even cared.
He continued walking down the hall and left, disappearing out the fourth floor dorm hallway, amongst a whole bunch of other people. But as he touched me on the shoulder,
everything changed. My life had been a waste, I had made it that way. All of my choices were bringing me closer to things none of us want to consider. At that moment, I knew I was to turn my life around. I felt a real presence, a desire to change, that things
would be okay. An immense feeling of acceptance, love, and relief took over my soul. It was so real that it is almost impossible to describe. That very next day I called home to my parents and told them I was done with that school and needed to come home. I didn’t know what I was going to do or why. I finished out the last 2-3 weeks of school, and went home, and started to turn my life around.
It took me many years to realize that this was no accident.
