Can Angels Take Human Form?

He said these exact words to me, that I’ll never forget, and every time I think about them, I get goosebumps, “Joe, you will be okay.”.
This is almost the same as mine. I was being moved in the hallway of a hospital after undergoing a major surgical operation in the intestine because of a growth of a polyp, but it was very painful because the pain reliever was not taking full effect even after an hour. Then I heard a mysterious voice, “Don’t worry John, it is benign.” After 2 days, there was the good news that the specimen of the polyp found in my intestine was benign and not malignant, meaning it is non-cancerous.

So what did he look like? 🙂
He was taller than me, maybe 6 foot tall (roughly), very nondescript, average looking, short cut light brownish-blonde hair. His clothes were not fancy, also very plain.

It’s funny you ask, because like I remember, there was no reason to notice him, yet I did. He could have been the “anybody” in a crowd.

That’s awesome. I recently went through three long months of medical procedures after being incredibly violently sick with no cause but massive pain so intense that no one could figure out what was wrong with me. It was a 3-4 week period of oddity. That cleared up eventually with no harm done, but, during that period, at one point it was so bad, I went to the E.R. and they coincidentally found a golf-ball sized tumor in my lower abdomen. I was then subjected to month’s worth of tests and procedures and ultimately surgery to remove it. Luckily like you, it was benign. And like you, the surgery caused so much pain afterwards, even the highest doses of pain medicines barely took the edge off, so I can sympathize totally.

God Bless you JoeFreedom,

I see. It seems we almost have the same experience. I was also a convert from being a lukewarm, sinful Catholic and pleaded to God to forgive me and get me out from my miserable situation. Looking back, it was really a miracle that I was out of that situation.

After my conversion experience, my soul became fervent reciting the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet daily. It was while in reciting the Rosary one night that my Guardian Angel appeared to me as a Living Light. What I know is that I only said to Mama Mary to heal my very sore throat so that I can say my Rosary prayer fervently and devotedly. I realized that my sore throat was healed in a minute. Then I was surprised there was a white light above me. It was a very beautiful white light, the rays of the white light are alive. I stared at it for around 8 seconds thinking what it really is, then it moved towards the back. I did not dare my eyes look at the back anymore and just concentrated at my Rosary prayer. Yes, it is really a grace from God to see these things.

I have not even told any of my relatives, parents, friends about this so as to maintain my humility and peace. They might even think that I am crazy or hallucinating. I don’t think my relatives have even experienced this thing because they are talkative and boastful.

Maybe in the future, when I have a friend/relative who is an atheist or lukewarm soul, so that they would believe in God, knowing that it is not in my nature to tell a lie especially when I am serious.

Very much indeed! I am similar again to you in the respect that I was a very sinful lukewarm Christian, but of the Lutheran persuasion. During my my long tenure as a Lutheran, I always called myself a “Catholic-lite”. However, my conversion to the fullness of faith has been long and slow. It has taken place over many years. I think so far that is our one difference.

I have a good friend/co-worker, who is atheist, but says he is “open”. I have a post devoted to this subject so I’ll leave the details there, but I (strongly) felt the Holy Spirit telling me that I needed to discuss God with him. It was a very humbling experience because all of a sudden I told him this story of meeting my angel and I broke down and cried. Crying is NOT something I do in the presence of others, at all. I was there with him and two of his other friends, whom I had never met before, but found out later that they are both devoted Christians and have tried to convert my friend. While I do not think my story changed him, I originally thought I would change him, but I believe that my original (human) understanding (or lack of God’s infinite wisdom) of the purpose of that was not to change him now, but to plant the “seeds” of doubt that he could be wrong about God, and that the rest will be taken care of later.

So I hope too one day that if you feel the Spirit moving you to tell your story to an atheist friend…

On YouTube there’s a video about the vocation story of Fr. Joshua Waltz. You can find the video on the YouTube page for the Bismarck Diocese. Anyway – in his story he speaks of an incident that happened on a trip to Europe when he was 18. He was supposed to meet up with family at one point in Barcelona, after leaving Rome (and meeting the Pope), but his family was stranded in the States due to a flight cancellation.

He says that he had only enough money to buy water and some bread and so he went somewhere to watch a soccer game on tv. While there, he was approached by a man who offered to buy him a meal. Later after eating and separating, Fr. Waltz found himself in some trouble when confronted by a prostitute, he rebuked her propositions, but then suddenly a group of about 5 men appeared out of nowhere. He turned around to find that and the same guy who had bought his meal was behind him (who was rather large, Fr. Waltz describes him as a 6’5" black man) so needless to say that dissolved the situation.

Two weeks later in Madrid, hundreds of miles away from Barcelona, while walking down the street he bumps into the SAME man again and this time, Fr. Waltz offers to buy him a meal, returning the favor. As they’re eating and talking, Fr. Waltz sees his mother outside and tells the man to wait a minute so he can run out and grab her and introduce her to him. When he reenters the restaurant with his mother, he finds that the man is gone but he left a note on the table that read: “God bless, Michael”.

So … Fr. Waltz says that if anyone is wondering, St. Michael the Archangel is a 6’5" tall black man 🙂

So yes, Angels can appear in human form.

Mine was as a very long conversion too. After college, my pride took over and decided to concentrate more on career and business. I was also corrupted by internet porn. I was very lukewarm for more than 12 years before fully admitting to myself that I really “wrecked” my life.

Yes, planting the seeds on your friend could one day be very useful in his conversion Joe.
