Can animals go to Heaven?

But seriously, I think your viewpoint is minimalistic. If you love your pets, then why not?

I am sorry for your loss. I have gone through this so many times.
And I had one particular favorite who I hope finds his way to me one day.
My first dream of him afterward was seeing him being held by Jesus. And I was telling Him how to hold my cat, because he had hip issues; and He told me,
Yes, I know. I made him.
Silly maybe, but I don’t think so. It was comforting . And hopeful that I’ll play with him again.
Meanwhile, he has a pretty awesome Caregiver. As does yours.

In the early days, even people had to sit outside of the church if they were not in the state of grace, so that example you give is not a deciding factor. Whatever God has in store is good enough for me, but I’m not ashamed to think like a child either, and there are some really good positions given using Scripture and from Saints like St. Francis. I just got done reading a really good article on it. Until the Church comes out and declares against my ‘childish’ hope on pets then I will entertain the idea.

No, what I said is what Scripture says. The same way that man passes away, but at the resurrection are you a different man or the same man, renewed by Christ? We do not cease to exist at death and then God creates a new and perfect version of us. The same way with creation. The passing away of heaven and earth is not about the destruction of it. Read Genesis, all of creation was infected by sin and death. It is not just man. So like man, all of creation is passing away. But God will renew it all at the end of time. Remember, when Christ came as man he didn’t just redeem us from sin and death, He sanctified all of creation. We all are redeemed and renewed.

The Church doesn’t have to declare every little detail of our lives. But, whatever floats your boat.

Your equivalence of Man and the rest of Creation in the New Heavens and the New Earth
is incorrect, I believe. Man’s soul is immortal while the rest of Creation is not immortal.

I think you are the one being minimalistic.

Explain to me how being united forever with God, Jesus, Mary and the Church Triumphant can be incomplete without ones pets. Being united with God is the meaning of life. I have never read that the meaning of life was being united with God and your pets. Since there is no marriage in heaven, then I think we can assume that the far lesser tie of a human to their pet is also nonexistent in heaven.

We’re not talking about the soul (that is for another discussion, but man’s soul is not inherently immortal and eternal, only God is). We’re talking about the body. Are you receiving a different, new body? Or are you receiving a renewed glorified body? God is not creating a new body for your soul to live in. He is resurrecting your dead body and perfecting it.
