A friend, has just become a JW (sorry not sure of the spelling) I know little to nothing about them. Are they considered to be protestant?, or something else I know they are not Trinitarian, but I know nothing else about them, thanks for the info.

No, they generally aren’t considered Protestant. The term usually used for them (and for Mormonism) is generally “Restorationist” - that is, they see themselves as the true Church, restored to Earth by God by their founder.

Jehovah’s Witnesses, correct, are not Trinitarian. They believe God to only be the Father, Jesus to be Michael the Archangel incarnate, killed on a stake and not a cross, and the Holy Spirit to be the “energy force” of God. Through Jesus, all things were made.

They demand regular attendance to their meetings, I think around five times a week. They reject hellfire, and believe that those who refuse to accept Jehovah after the final judgment will be annihilated, and simply cease to exist. The vast majority of believers will live on a perfected paradise Earth, and 144,000 will be in heaven in perfect union with God (“Jehovah”). Incidentally, the 144,000 are the only ones allowed to partake in Communion.

The Bible is translated to correspond to JW beliefs, the New World Translation. The Watchtower is the direct source of divine revelation, and they do not believe in blood transfusions (though a growing minority of JW are beginning to reject that).

The all-knowing Wikipedia might help somewhat :).

They always, always present themselves well dressed and well groomed. They are well trained, especially on how to appeal to weak Catholics. Their stance on Catholicism also helps them get their foot in the door with the others who are of the anti-Catholic persuasion.

They have had quite a change in their approach from the 70’s where they rang your bell and asked you to buy a Watchtower right off the bat, which often times featured bad “news” about the pope.

Expect your friend to turn up the heat, so to speak.
