This was on a cable broacast right next to my beloved EWTN…
This is a partial quote from a group called tomarrows world. (I will not provide the link) but its the whole “whore of Babylon” thing it calls out some protestants as well. What denomination is this and who will defend it???
The forms and ceremonies of paganism gradually crept into the worship. Some of the old heathen feasts became church festivals with change of name and of worship. About 405ad images of saints and martyrs began to appear in the churches, at first as memorials, then in succession revered, adored, and worshiped. The adoration of the Virgin Mary was substituted for the worship of Venus and Diana; the Lord’s Supper became a sacrifice in place of a memorial; and the elder evolved from a preacher into a priest.… The church and the state became one when Christianity was adopted as the religion of the empire, and out of the unnatural union arose two evils, one in the eastern, the other in the western provinces. In the east the state dominated the church until it lost all energy and uplifting life. In the west “Rome,” Ed.] as we shall see, the church gradually usurped power over the state, and the result was not Christianity but a more or less corrupt hierarchy controlling the nations of Europe, making the church mainly a political

Anyone at least no who (ie what denomination) perpetuates this hate speech???

Google suggest that it may be a denomination calling itself The Worldwide Church of God. A sabbath keeping denomination which began to moderate in the 1990s and saw half of its members split away.

I have seen this statement made several times, and frankly I think it is a “boiler-plate” statement that numerous groups use.

I wouldn’t expect anyone here who is non-Catholic will be willing to step up and admit to being an adherent and identify the group. Seems many of them have a problem stating that they are anything more than “Christian”. There are those who openly state their affiliation…and they are honest about it, but there are many that do not.

Oh, well…its SOS/SSDD…

Tomorrow’s World is a broadcast sponsored by the Living Church of God, f/k/a the Worldwide Church of God, founded by the late Herbert W. Armstrong. They have a unique view of eschatology and definitely view the Catholic Church as the whore of Babylon. They are so far removed from orthodoxy that most protestant groups regard them as apostate, just like they view JW’s and Mormans.

I googled the guys name who wrote this and he does not stop with Catholics he writes about pentecostals ect ect… for me if your “church” does not uplift its self and God and bases its teachings off of downgrading others its transparently wrong… Never have I ever heard a Catholic homily directly criticise another institution… (not saying it hasnt happened) im just sayin… where are these people and why not defend your position???

Have you considered that they are so small that a member of that church has not joined a Catholic forum. And even if one has perhaps he is watching Jack Bauer on 24.

Maybe but I think this thought process in evangelist churches and Baptist are more prevelant than admitted… That Church is not that small by the way…

Maybe not small compared to the Westbro Baptist Church being one family or the Branch Davidians being one compound but in the grand scheme of things yes they are small.

Sounds like Lorraine Boettner. Before Keating gave me his book, I thought everything Boettner wrote was correct.
