Hello all, this is my first post. I don’t know if this has been asked before, if it has please forgive me. The question I have is, if someone has been divorced and re-married can they become Catholic? The person I’m asking about is currently Methodist and is considering leaving his church because he told me the Methodists are considering to allow gay marriage. I would like to tell him he would be welcome to come to the Catholic Church but only if that statement was true. I appreciate any feed back on this matter. Thanks.

Of course anyone can become Catholic. Your friend’s marriage situation may prevent him from receiving the sacraments until it is resolved; the only way to know for sure is to consult with a priest.

Everyone can and should become Catholic, but one has to be prepared and willing to do so.

“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For he that will save his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for my sake, shall find it.” (Mt. 16:24)
