Can anyone besides God read our thoughts?

It is my understanding that Satan is denied access to our ‘secret’ thoughts - but that he knows our track record regarding temptations, and can read our body language like a book - give him an inch and he will attempt to extract a mile.

No one can read your thoughts. Some may know you well enough or your actions may give others a clue, but no. This does include Satan an mentioned.

I don’t care what anyone says, demons DO know your thoughts. There are exorcists that have come to that conclusion also. I know from personal experience.

Demons are powerless against the faithful in a state of grace so it does not matter what knowledge they can have.

What about Mary and Saints through silent prayer? I’ve read that God in a sense tells Mary that we’re praying to her. Can they read our thoughts or is God like a messenger in a way?

I take this prophecy of St. Simeon that the Blessed Mother does indeed know our thoughts.
(and you yourself a sword will pierce)* so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

If that’s the case then when silently praying for Mary’s intercession, does God let Mary know we’re praying for her help?

Perhaps because you are intending those words to go to Mary. I say the audibility of the prayer isn’t essential.

Mary was assumed, but the angels and Saints are spirit without body and yet they can ‘hear’ our prayers.

Do you know sources that I can read up on this? I’ve been curious because I’ve heard both sides of the argument.

No authoritative sources that I specifically can recall. Here are a few links from caf, and the like

On the issue the devil / demons not being able to read our thoughts; just learned it as I grew. I have it on EWTN programs in past month (Fr. Wade Menenza I think).

The Priest, Father Armoth -
The movie The Exorcist - was based upon him -
He said, a demon possessed person,
told him - with that evil tone voice -
certain sins he had committed - as a young man.
Father Armoth was shocked.

By the way - a new movie is out about him.

A little different. The evil one can see all your actions and is good at inferring your thoughts, but no.

Do you know the name of the movie?

Is this a movie that comes out in theaters or is this up for grabs off legit sites?

This is an interesting interview - starts at 2:00
I’ve never heard of so many such cases happening …
Since the year 2000…
Gives a glimpse of the directors point of view.

According to Catholic theologians, the devil cannot read our thoughts. He can tell
what we are thinking by observing us. We ourselves can sometimes tell what people close to us, particularly parents, are thinking, from seeing the people with whom we are on intimate terms. Satan is an angel, though a fallen angel, and is more intelligent than humans. And he could observe us 24/7, unlike people, and see what we do all the time, which can only be very informative when it comes to knowing what we have thought and what we are thinking.
