please give me a prayer petition about temperance, i don’t know how to make a petition prayer and i need it today. 😦

Jesus, You practiced temperance;
You were the Model of self-restraint,
Never over-indulging in the temporal.
My body being the Temple of the Lord,
I must treat it with ongoing respect.
Self-abuse destroys the body;
Be it alcohol, drugs, or excess food.
Lord Jesus, bestow fortitude upon me
For my soul to control my body,
To practice the virtue of temperance.
Jesus, You are the source of my strength.
Through You, all is possible!

Prayer for the canonisation of Matt Talbot (who overcome alcoholism and became saintly)

O Jesus, true friend of the humble worker, you have given us in your servant Matt Talbot a wonderful example of victory over vice, a model of penance and of love for the holy Eucharist; grant, we ask you, that we your servants may overcome all our unruly passions and make our lives holy with penance and love like his. And if it be you will that your servant Matt be glorified by the Church, then show by your heavenly favours the power he enjoys in your sight. You who live and reign for ever. Amen.

This isn’t a prayer, but it bears repeating:

Socrates said, “Know thyself.”
Marcus Aurelius said, “Control thyself.”
Jesus of Nazareth said, “Deny thyself.”

Prayer
of
St. Ignatius of Loyola

Suscipe

Take, **
Lord,**
and receive all
my liberty,
my memory,
my understanding
and
my entire will,
all I have and call my own.
You have given all to me. To You,
Lord,
I return it. **
Everything is **
Yours;

do with it what You will.
Give me only Your love:
heart: and Your grace.
That is enough for me.
Amen.
