I found this little statue in an old box after moving and I am not sure who it is. Can anyone identify her?

Thanks!

Are you sure it is a saint? It looks to me like it could be a statue of Our Lady Of La Salette, often depicted featuring a Russian-style headdress.
One of my favourite incarnations! She is a beaut who ever she is!!

Thanks for your reply! I have no idea who it is or if it is a saint or the BVM. But thank you for replying!

Our Lady of La Salette wore something of a head-dress like this:

So generally speaking, no, I don’t think the picture appears like the common perception of Our Lady of La Salette. There is a name for that type of crown as in this illustartion, I guess it is a Tiara.

If I had to guess, I’d just say Mary and maybe the home of Jesus that was brought over from the Mid-East to Italy; is there not a place like that? However that happened. But I doubt very much if that is what this is. Very nice statue.

Website bookmarked, that looks like a very good guess and is probably the answer.

St. Elizabeth of Hungary! Very possible! The clothes are similar.

Loretto is another proper analysis too.

I think you’re correct with St. Hedwig. She is carrying a church, wearing a crown, and the robes too look like hers in other depictions. 🙂

Thank you for this thread; it was to participate in. I hope we all receive some Blessings.

As soon as I saw the little house, I thought of Loreto, mentioned above - the Basilica della Santa Casa in Loreto, Italy. I’ve been there a couple of times. Here’s a modern icon of Our Lady of Loreto.

Yes, what a lovely icon, I would not rule Our Lady of Loretto out as well. I have seen a similar icon of Our Lady wearing red, at some point, I may look the artist up.

To really resolve this question, it seems to me a real scholar or expert could be consulted, not to take away from any of the responses.

P.S.: The Blessed Virgin Mary is a saint, and is often refered to as St. Mary.

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw your picture was the house of Loretto. Perhaps your picture is of Our Lady holding the house of Loretto. I don’t know. God bless you.

I would hazard a guess and say that it is St. Elizabeth of Hungary, who is a patron saint of the homeless. Houses = homes for homeless? 🤷

No, the picture would not be of the Loretto house, for I just noticed that there are two other houses in the picture. God bless you.
