Hello,

Since today was the Feast of the Holy Name of Mary, I looked up the related Litany and found one that included the title of “Our Lady of La Trappe” at the end. I’m completely unfamiliar with it and was wondering if anyone knew about it. If so, I would be grateful to know more.

Thank you! 🙂

The title derives from the Abbey of La Trappe in France. It was this abbey that initiated the reform of the Cisterician Order that resulted in the monastic order of the Trappists (also known as the Order of Cistercians of Strict Observance). The original oratory goes back to 1122.

Thank you for your explanation and the link, Don. So, it seems that it all began with a chapel that was simply dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. I was curious to know if there had been an apparition, but it seems that there wasn’t. I guess this answers my question! 🙂
