Can anyone tell me anything about Calvin's Epistle?

I read on this thread recently (post 35 discusses it) that John Calvin wrote an Epistle, declared it canon and added it to the Bible. The poster cited the book, “Where We Got the Bible… Our Debt to the Catholic Church.” Unfortunately, that book doesn’t cite its sources very well. I don’t know if this is just an Anti-Protestant myth or misunderstanding, or if it’s actually genuine. I so far haven’t been able to find anything out about it online.

Can anyone help me with this? Does anyone know anything about it?

History of the Bible in English by Frederick Fyvie Bruce on page 86 mentions something like this:

Was this epistle supposed to be infallible, though? If it was just an introduction, that’s not all that bad . . . Most Bibles today have introductions in them. The big issue is whether it was actually supposed to be an infallible epistle, whether it was actually supposed to be a new part of the canon.
