The automatic excommunication has been lifted? What about Bruskewitz’s excommunications?
Those excommunications stay. Bishop Bruskewitz’ s pronouncement was appealed to Rome, but in 2006 the ruling [on excommunication] was upheld by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, the Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops. I guess if a Bishop decides to get tough in his diocese with Freemasonry, Rome will not stand in its way if Catholic Masons are excommunicated.

Funny how we still have not seen any Mason dispute these issues.
  1. Masons take oaths over trivial matters
  2. Masons swear to put other Masons first
  3. Masons teach religious indifference.
You know, with all the secret teachings about the “Name of God” and all that, Gnosticism could be claimed as well. We should leave that out.

The church says they can’t; the Masons say they can; It’s a decision that each individual person must make. No matter what you or I say in this forum, they will decide as their beliefs dictate.
Yes, they have the free will to choose but the question is can they do so without imperiling their communion with the Church, and the answer is “NO”.

p.s. Masons have no moral rights over what a Catholic can or cannot do.

I don’t think anyone here ever said that they did.

So what, you are calling anyone who points out your errors as liars in effect.

Do you read posts? Did you read post # 108 where the Royal Arch oath to prefer Masons over the profane, right or wrong, was quoted by me straight from a central historical Masonic source, Duncan’s Ritual. If you are going to come on here defending your outfit at least have the knowledge of what Duncan’s is. It actually can be basically bought in any bookstore these days if you look.

Or are you going to claim ignorance over what is contained therein or give one of your standard “I can neither confirm nor deny” answers as you did to me before when I presented you with a Masonic website which explains the meaning of Jahbulon. It’s Royal Arch and I personally know Masons exalted to this self-styled supreme Masonic degree who freeze when you ask them to repeat the Sacred Omnific Name for God in that ritual: Jahbulon. Is using the Bible to swear an oath to protect this Secret Pagan Name for God not considered Blasphemy by Christians? Of course it is. Period!

And of course Masonic oaths are trivial. The Lodge’s practice of requiring its members to swear immoral oaths is incompatible with Christianity. These oaths require a Christian to swear on the Holy Bible that he will uphold a code of conduct to preserve secret passwords and handshakes. Such oaths are gravely immoral because their subject matter is trivial and does not give rise to the necessity of an oath. These oaths are also sworn under symbolic, blood-curdling penalties of physical torture and death called self-curses (e.g., having my throat cut across, and my tongue torn out by its roots). These penalties show a lack of respect for God and amount to blasphemy which is a serious sin. Or do you gamewell not believe in blasphemy or the Commandment not to use the Lord’s Name in vain.

Binding God in an oath to torture through the various Masonic degrees is blasphemy. If for fun the oath (as some confused Masons argue) - blasphemy for using God’s name for a joke! It’s a catch 22. Using the Bible for any such oaths is a sin. You go on gamewell if you wish: go ahead defend Blasphemy on CAF. ( I feel like I’m lecturing teenage kids now enchanted by witchcraft and paganism who hide in a backyard performing seances at night and binding themselves to teenage curses and secrets - same thing really).

As soon as you get down on one bare knee, with one bare arm, blindfolded and hoodwinked with a noose around your neck, with a shiny bright compass pointed on your bare chest and placing your hand on the HOLY BIBLE and binding yourself to self-mutilation and secrecy, you’ve committed blasphemy. The extent to which you go to deny this just shows the potency of the witch’s brew that you drank from with all those inane bloody rituals. Good luck with that.🙂

Well, here we go again. Its education time for one and all.

First off i’ve called no one liars. You and you alone typed those words.

Second your claim regarding the Royal Arch Oath to perfer Mason’s over Profane is quoted from a “Duncan’s Ritual” book is preposterous since both the Scottish and York rites are appendant bodies of freemasonry; in other words, they are not blue lodge; they are organizations outside blue lodge where Masons are permitted to join if they so choose. A majority of Masons choose to go no farther then Blue Lodge.

When you write your screeds here Its like your painting a barn, but just the part that people can see.

I’d like you to take some time and read these links I’ve supplied after all–as i’m sure you’ll agree–there are two sides to every story.

Enjoy!

Gnostics are “gnow it alls” and this is profane knowledge versus sacred revealed knowledge. Gnostics are pre-Christian and actually Gnosticism is just a civilized form of Satanism, the “adversary” contradicting all God has revealed about His nature and His will. If God says freely teach His truth Gnostics say keep “truth” secret. This is very dangerous as one can easily see if projected to a medium like the internet: secrecy is a form of censorship that says one group can have this info; one cannot. Only it’s bogus knowledge as Pike’s book, to use as an example, so profoundly illustrates. Pike mistakes for goddesses those representations of Noah’s wife, etc.

Contradictions of God’s will include elitism versus election, the “degrees” and caste system versus God’s election of individuals at His will. This can mean God choses a smelly shepherd to be a prophet and overlooks one of the elite; as Christ chose Simon, a smelly fisherman, as the Rock on which He founded His Church and Judas, the educated and most elite of the apostles, fell to Satan.

Genetic “Christians” are one profane perversion of Freemasonry, the punchline of “The DaVinci Code” with the “sacred prostitute” in the lineage of “Jesus” via “Mary Magdalene” parked out back ready to mate and make more superior, genetically elite Freemasons. Christ said those who hear and obey are mother and brother to Him. There are no genetic Christians and no secret marriages as is claimed by Freemasons as regards to Jesus and Mary Magdalene. It’s self-contradictory to have a “secret marriage” as the marriage rite has been for time immemorial a publicly-witnessed declaration of the marital union.

Gnostics insist that good and evil are a playful duality swapping ascendancy but Christians know that evil is not an objective entity, just the vacuum left in chosing that which is not of God. Hope somebody can explain that better. No yin-yang Hinduism here.

The Gnostic “gospels” are particularly inimical to women, as one can tell by the “sacred prostitute” angle, eh? Can’t get to Heaven as a woman unless “Christ” performs a miracle–same as Hinduism. And not surprisingly, the Gnostic “gospels” include a homosexual bent, as in the parable of “Jesus” raising a boy from the dead and having sex with him. That’s the lineage of the boys in the red Fez’s, which stem from the Muslim overthrow of the Christian town of Fez–gray wool hats being dipped in Christian blood. What an abject waste of male bonding.

@gamewell:

Wow you are defending Masonry to the degree most Catholics would defend Jesus Christ and the Church. Good on you. “Liars?” You basically said to Ralphinal that his statements were not the truth or half-truths. So what exactly does that make Ralphinal’s statements to you since they are not true? Ralphinal is speaking truth; you are dissimulating.

Yes, I know Scottish Rite and York Rite are appendant bodies. Fine. But it’s absolutely hilarious of you to disown them as having any relation to Freemasonry (even to Blue Lodge)…You just have neither confirmed nor denied whether you have gone on the higher degrees after a couple of years in Blue Lodge. Most die-hard masons do and I’m sure you will if you haven’t already. Some Masons here have. One stipulated he had 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, so I quoted from the idiotic lecture given therein about how reaching this Highest Degree in Scottish rite contained a lecture on “telepathy and esoteric psychology” - The Holy Secret and Magic. Clausen’s Commentaries on Morals and Dogma (The Supreme Council, 33degree, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Southern Juriscdiction of the U.S.A., 1976), pp.157-58 What rubbish! Would you not agree talking of magic and mental telepathy is not rubbish in Scottish rite? What would you say?

Again my original question was also on the oaths. Are they blasphemous or not? Christians are only to give oaths to serious matters (i.e. court appearance) You are pledging on the Holy Bible (the sacred book) to keep trivial secrets the cost of which revealing would be your self-mutilation. What did God ever do to get involved in such ridiculous mumbo-jumbo. You as an Episcopalian would, I assume, agree God’s name should not be used in vain so why is it in the Temple? Ever wonder why the oaths are so bloody gamewell? Just fun and games? No, because if a Mason were to lose his tongue, have his entrails burned, or head chopped off, or whatever idiotic penalties have been thought up in the past, this scared fellow Masons to no end as it was believed an incomplete body could not rise from the dead. It’s the Masonic punishment to condemn a man without any hope of an afterlife. That’s the provenance, and Grown Men do fear these penalties to this very day, whether enforced or not, to the point they still are wary of breaking them. CAF members who were once Masons have confessed as much. Heck, the Masons made them swear to this bloody gory stuff using the Holy Bible - wow, fantastic use for our Holy Book.

O.K. if for now, let’s stick to Blue Lodge rituals then. In the Entered Apprentice Initiation in the Masonic Temple, the candidate gets a shirt with one sleeve, one pant leg, and a slight-opening over his chest. He is hoodwinked and a noose (cabel-tow) placed on his neck. He is blinded and is symbolically in the darkness. The Stewards then hands him over to the Senior Deacon (talk about religious overtones - Deacons) until at last he kneels at the ALTAR! in his Masonic Temple, and places his hand on the Bible (blasphemy to use the Bible for these type of oaths) where all the fun and games and secrets and bloody penalties can be pronounced with the initiate keeping his hand on God’s Word.

Now the Catholic Church maintains these oaths are blasphemy? How are they not?

In many U.S. Lodges, the initiation apron is carefully put away and stored, and later in life placed in the Masonic’s coffin upon death. My Catholic family members keep rosaries and are given Crosses once they pass away in their coffins. The reason the apron is kept by Masons is because that initiation ceremony marks his initiation from blindness to Masonic Light. Up until then, Masonry teaches that they were in the darkness (hence the blindfold in the ceremony).

I assert that no man is in the darkness who follows Christ available to all. Nobody needs Masonic light available to a few to confuse the Real Light of Jesus Christ. These secret steps amount to Gnosticism, secret knowledge, to be kept by the brothers, and only the brothers. We as Christians wait for Christ’s light and are not in need of any Masonic ceremony curing us of our blindness.

A Mason is also commonly required to memorize a series of questions and answers about his degree. Guess what it is called? A Catechism. Nice touch that. The Master Mason degree initiation takes place in the Sanctum Sanctorum, the “Holy of Holies” in the Temple. The similarities to religion are for all there to see: Altars, Temples, Deacons, the “Holy of Holies” You either see these as religious ritual or you avoid the truth.

So I leave asking this (the first question you still have NOT answered:
  1. Are the oaths in Masonry blasphemy or not in using God’s Holy book to promise self-mutilation? - Simple question;
  2. How much Masonic mumbo-jumbo do you believe gameplan? Do you personally believe as some Masons did here not too long ago that Speculative Masonry had its start with the Pyramids of Egypt and the Temple of Solomon? Do you actually buy that gobbledygook? Do you believe Freemasonry can actually trace its roots to the Temple of Solomon (Hiram Abif). Do you believe as some Masons have argued that Moses was a Mason and Jesus Christ too? Many Masons believe this on the basis of what they learn in lodge. Poor souls. Can Freemasonry be traced back to the Temple of Solomon in your view?

My answer to your question No. 1. No.

My answer to your question No. 2. We have no “mumbo-jumbo” as you call it, so my answer is No.

I’m committed to my beliefs on Freemasonry just like your committed to your beliefs to the church. I’m not going to change my position no matter just as i don’t expect you to change yours also.

I think its in our best interests in this case to agree to disagree.

nobody has because what you say is either not the truth or half-truths.
Can you please provide proof? Can you post the ritual and oaths taken by Masons to show this to be untrue? Are you willing and able to show that Masons do not take serious oaths over non-serious matters? Or, perhaps, you can show that the matters are serious and the oaths are justified? Can you show that Masons are not told that all religions are equal and acceptable? Can you show that Masons are specifically told never to favor a fellow Mason over another? Or can you show where these were changed?

Is it true that there are secret names for God in Freemasonry? If so, how is that not Gnostic?

Gamewell,
I did not see your post of links before I posted. Please allow me to alter my questions.

Do Masons understand that keeping the secrets of Freemasonry is the same as telling the truth in a court of law? One of the links you posted makes that claim.

Is there any reason a Lodge would not allow Black or other minority members? What about Jewish members? Muslims?

TEPO,

I have to disagree with you completely on most of your response. The nice part of living in the United States is that we, as citizens have the right of decision. Obviously, those of the Roman Catholic faith who agree with your opinion will not join the masons; those who differ will…and have. As I said in an earlier post, over 40% of my lodge is of the Roman Catholic faith. I’m confident that if any of them thought that Freemasonry was a religion or substitute they’d leave the Masons. But for some strange reason they find that we are not a religion which only reinforces my position. Keeping in mind that no one forces them to become Masons we open our doors to those who seek membership. So be it.
YOURE RIGHT !!!

Freemasonry is not a religion nor a substitue for one… The reason is: because the work of the masons is not done for the purpose of pleasing God. Their purpose is meant to please man.

So be it then… No good Catholic would ever join the freemasons to begin with. Because those who join, do so for their own sake. And good Catholics dont live for themselves, but for others as God has commanded us to.

So my mission here is resolved. I dont need to protect Catholics from joining… Because good Catholics just wouldnt, and dont.

Ralph,

If you go to post #128 and read in depth, that should answer all your questions.

Gamewell,
I did not see your post of links before I posted. Please allow me to alter my questions.

To answer your question “Do Masons understand that keeping the secrets of Freemasonry is the same as telling the truth in a court of law?” The answer is no because in the justice system, lying under oath is punishible by imprisionment and/or fine. In Freemasonry you would merely be looked upon with disgust for lying.

To answer the second part of your question, I know of no lodge that discriminates against any man by reason of faith, race, creed, political party affiliation or sexual orientation. In fact my lodge has Brothers of color and other minority members. On our petitions, there is no line for religious affiliation as that has no bearing on who is addmitted for membership. The only reason I happen to know that many of my lodge’s Brothers are Roman Catholic are that I am personally friends with. We also have Brothers who are of the Jewish and Islam faiths.

On a side-note, I know that the Knights of Columbus are similiar to the Freemasons in some ways, with the notable exception that they discriminate based on Religion. Just an observation.

Hope that answers your questions…

So, in your opinion, the idea that the Church holds the Masonic oaths as being over trivial matters may have merit? If the Church says that swearing to God in a court of law, though not really good, is acceptable but the same oath over a lesser matter is unacceptable, and you say that the oaths of secrecy is Masonry is lesser…

Please send some people to investigate Lodges in ALabama. They gladly discriminate

On a side-note, I know that the Knights of Columbus are similiar to the Freemasons in some ways, with the notable exception that they discriminate based on Religion. Just an observation.
That’s right, the Knights of Columbus do not use the Holy Bible for blasphemy as the Freemasons do without any worry. I particularly am piqued by this part of the Master Mason’s initiation Oath that is sworn by any Christian (ahem) Mason on a Bible in front of the Masonic Altar during his Initiation. (the 3rd Degree)

“I, ________________, of my own free-will and accord, in the presence of Almighty God do hereby and hereon most solemnly and sincerely promise and swear, …that I will not have illegal carnal intercourse with a Master Mason’s wife, his mother, sister, or daughter, nor suffer the same to be done by others, if in my power to prevent.” sacred-texts.com/mas/dun/dun04.htm

And this is sworn on a Bible in which God declares all adultery a sin but the Master Mason gets to use the same Holy Book to only promise not to fool around with his Masonic brothers’ spouses and daughters and mothers. What a ridiculous and reprehensible (old-boys club) oath!

Bottom line is all that is required to enter Freemasonry is that you agree you believe in a god (G.A.O.T.U. - Grand Architect of the Universe). As the British mainstream and secular writer Martin Short pointed out in his bestseller in England Inside the Brotherhood amazon.ca/Inside-Brotherhood-Explosive-Secrets-Freemasons/dp/0586070656 ,after years of research and interviews with tons of Freemasons themselves, it does not matter one bit if you believe G.A.O.T.U. to be Satan or Jesus Christ. As the Masonic poster alluded, Freemasonry does not discriminate. That’s why Aleister Crowley had no problems going through the first 3 degrees of Freemasonry before he went on to darker Satanic rituals. It doesn’t matter.

In fact the more one reads the works of recognized Masonic ritualists like Wilmhurst and Pike and others, it would probably be easier to become a Mason and learn the “mysteries” of Freemasonry if one enjoys dabbling in the occult than if one is a Christian. An occultist can at least understand some of Masonry’s symbolism.

Just an observation.

I honestly can’t make it any plainer to you.

Secondly, why would I send people to Alabama to investigate alleged discrimination? I’m not from that jurisdiction. However as a friendly suggestion, if you have any type of issue with the Mason’s in the state of Alabama, please do contact the Grand Lodge and inform them of your position. I’m sure they’ll be more then happy to address your allegations.
