Their are many fundamentalists who do show respect and an open mind to the faith…they become Catholic.

Is that what I said?
It’s certianly what it sounded like. By saying “Tim Tebow is a fundamenalist, he won’t show respect to the pope.” It CLEARLY sounds like the reason he won’t show respect to the pope is…because he is a “fundamentalist”.

What conclusion should we draw?

Happy now?
Actually, thanks for asking. . It’s been a rough week though-my computer had a virus and it cost me alot of money to get it fixed and my cat died last Saturday. 😦 So, to answer your question, am I happy now? Well, sort of . I’m generally a happy, albiet sarcastic guy. I’m looking foward to the start of Basketball season and I’ll be watching a wrestling PPV this Sunday. I’m also in the middle of a GREAT book that I’ve read before, but it’s so good I’m reading it again (A biography of Churchill) and I’m blasting the Ramones. So, am I happy now? Yeah, I guess.

Are you happy?

I’m not saying he is satan. I’m not saying he is evil. I’m not saying he is going to hell. My point was that Catholics should look to models of the faith, not football players. I mentioned the fact that Mr. Tebow is a fundamentalist Christian who’s father has made a life’s mission of converting Catholics. IMHO, thats not good.
While I agree that they should have Catholic role models for their Catholic faith, football is football. If someone is looking up to a football player, as they play the sport themselves, then they should look up to a football player. I only know of one Catholic football player (I am sure there are more, but he is the only one that is public about it), and that is Phillip Rivers.

All I am saying is you can have the pope as a role model, you can look up to saints as a role model for life, but their role is to demonstrate how to live a good life, not how to play football. With that being said, if someone plays football and needs a good role model, then they should look at a good football player. While I look to Jesus as the ultimate role model, I wouldn’t look to Him as a role model for being a good mother. I would look to his mother. If I am looking for an academic role model, Albert Einstein wouldn’t be a bad guy to look up to. Each role model models a role, and Tim Tebow happens to demonstrate how to be a starting (albeit mediocre in my opinion) quarterback.

Do you really think that Mr. Tebow isn’t anti Catholic?
I was under the impression that the thread was about Tim Tebow. You seem to be discussing his father. I have no evidence that T. Tebow has made negative statements about Catholicism, and don’t plan on prejudging him. lol.

@rascalking: I knew I liked your style. Dropkick Murphys?

I am sorry about loss of the cat.

Tim Tebow and his mother did an amazing pro-life (anti-abortion) ad during the Superbowl last year that had everyone talking, and gave many pro-lifers an excellent opportunity to defend life. Who can say how many babies were saved from the abortionists’ instruments of death by this ad, including many Catholic babies?

I say be glad that he believes in Jesus Christ, and pray for him. The Bible says that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled. If indeed Mr. Tebow does speak out against Catholicism, he is doing it because he believes it is the right thing to do. The Holy Spirit will keep His promise and “fill him with righteousness” by working in his heart to show him that he is wrong about the Catholic Church. There is no need for us to bad-mouth Mr. Tebow–we simply have to pray for the Holy Spirit to continue to work in his life and bring him home to the Catholic Church. We need to trust God and wait for His perfect timing. If Mr. Tebow persecutes Catholics, we should rejoice and be glad, as Jesus told us to do.

In the meantime, let’s be thrilled that such a popular celebrity is taking an active stand against the evils of abortion in the United States.

Personally, I wish that someone would recruit him for the Chicago Bears right now. We’re hurtin’ here in Northern lllinois, everyone. 😦

I’m very sorry for the loss of your cat. We have a 8 year old Chocolate Lab and I am dreading the day when he passes, not only for my sake, but the children as well. We will pray a Rosary for you today. 🙂

I agree. Pray that Mr. Tebow’s heart is open and he will see the Truth of the Catholic Faith.

I am sorry about your cat, Rascal. Title of the book? Churchill is one of my lifetime heroes. He fought “the black dog” all his life and was an amazing man.

Is it all right to cheer for Colt McCoy and pray that he and Jason Shipley will be reunited as a QB-WR combination?

Is it a sin to pray that Case McCoy and Jaxon Shipley will be the answer to all the Longhorn’s offensive problems as well as the second coming of McCoy-Shipley?

Yes! (read my location and you will understand).

I hope it’s not a sin not to pray for Case McCoy and Jaxon Shipley – as an Aggie my two favorite teams are the Aggies and anyone playing Texas 😃 – even if we are now in a difference conference.

As the bumper sticker says: God’s a Longhorn fan. He made sunsets burnt orange.

“In a country of over 92 million, the number of people who have never heard the gospel of Jesus Christ is staggering.” Mr. Tebow is speaking of the Philippines and the Catholics who are there. Mr. Tebow does not believe in Catholicism and his particular flavor of the Gospel is very anti Catholic. Please read his website btea.org/index.asp .

Instead of looking up to a football player, why not…St. Juan Diego? Today is his feast day and he is in heaven with our Lord. 😉
FYI, that is the website of Tim Tebow’s father. Whether or not Tim shares his father’s views has not yet been established.
