As I enter my sixties, and confront my own mortality, I am tasked with making final arrangements for the disposition of my estate, and my earthly body.
I am not a veteran of the Navy, the Merchant Marine, or the US Marine Corps, but I have been a recreational sailor for many, many years. I have traveled at sea extensively, and feel the most at peace there. So I am curious about whether the Church permits internment at sea if the decedent is not naval personnel, nor expires at sea.
My personal preference would be entombment at sea, in a casket, in the North Atlantic, after a Mass of Christian Burial at my own parish.
I appreciate your research into this thought.
