The local Eagles club has supported us in raising money for the American Cancer Society the last few years. My dad is a member and in reciprocation for their help, he’d like my husband (who is also Catholic) and me to join. Is it okay?

The Church does not prohibit joining a fraternal order unless it is anti-Catholic. Code of Canon Law (CIC) states, “A person who joins an association which plots against the Church is to be punished with a just penalty” (CIC 1374). To my knowledge, the Fraternal Order of Eagles is not such an association.
