It’s just a fun song. No need to take it so literally.

BUT, seeing as you brought the Gospel into this, let’s see what Jesus himself actually says about worrying:

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O men of little faith? Therefore, do not worry. (Mt 6:27-30)

Wait a minute. That kind of sounds like he’s saying, “every little thing…is gonna be alright.” 😉

It is based on a passage from Psalms. And it’s by far not the only song to be based on this passage and neither is it the first or oldest. George Friedrich Handel wrote a song to this text for example, and I doubt he was the first.

So I guess it’s impossible to say to what extent one song inspired the other and to what extent it was a new creation based entirely on the original text.

It’s not uncomon, by the way, in folk music for songs to change tunes in the course of history, or for the tune of one song to become attached to another song.

If you spot any mistakes here i don’t mind anyone correcting me. I want to learn. =)

Firstly i would like to mention this.
I have been studying the rastafari “religion” not so much but a little bit. As i listen to reggae myself. I will make it clear that the meaning Yah ras tafari(Rastafari) Means God prince tafari. And is a reference to Haile Selassie (Tafari Makonnen) former emperor of ethiopia.

Secondly i will just copy and past the same i said to a friend of mine long ago…And i hope you will all read this =)

birth name. (Tafari Makonnen is his birth name)
Ras means prince “Prince Tafari” Ras tafarai.
They belive he is the second upcomming of christ
Jesus christ, reincarnation.
So they say Jah Rastafari

So everyone be careful what you sing while listening to reggae. Don’t burn the lyrics into your brain it’s dangerous. It’s important to understand the meaning of Jah rastafari so you don’t so you don’t go around singing this text. It starts small then it eats your brain. Just be careful. I listen a lot of reggae i like a lot of the things they sing about. Poor people, fighting bad drugs like heroin, coke, alchole, cigarettes and spirits and so on. Yeah i didn’t mention marijuana. I’m a user. But i think it’s better then cigrettes and the other stuff out there made by humans. Yes i know it’s bad to do any kinds of drugs it even says so in bible i belive. But this is between me and god. So yeah. =)

Anyway i hope you will read this and be careful while listening to reggae: Try to only listen to reggae songs that is more chatolic/christian friendly.Read the lyrics of the songs and decide for yourself what is bad and what is good.
