Can Catholics name their children Grace?

I remeber years ago someone saying that the Catholic Church does not allowed children to be named Grace because it is to like to special a word.Is this true.Thank you for your time,very much so.

one of my baby 2nd cousins is named Grace, shes half spanish, i think her mom is catholic so…
 
I’ve never heard of this. There are Graces on both sides of my Catholic family. I was going to name my first daughter Joanna Grace, after her grandmothers. (So I hope not.)
 
I wouldn’t think God would mind what you name your children as long as it isnt insulting or profanity. I don’t think I have ever heard of any forbidden names in the Catholic Church or anything of that sort.
 
I can’t think of why not. “Grace” is the translation of “Anna.”
 
My daughter’s middle name is Grace. I wouldn’t think its much different than naming a girl “Faith” or “Hope”. The priest certainly didn’t object at the baptism.
 
Yes and Hope and Charity and Faith…but…

I think they might draw the line at Mohamed but then again maybe not since there must have been pre-Islamic little Mohameds running around in Christian Arabia.
 
Exhibit A: Grace Kelly, Catholic actress and Catholic princess.
 
I have a beautiful grandaughter named Grace. It is a lovely name and perfectly fine for a Catholic name. Her middle name is a Saint’s name.

I don’t think the Catholic Church prohibits any name.
 
I have taught two children in my CCD classes, actually, 4, who were all named Grace. Given that Grace means “Gift from God” I would certainly hope not. The name Ann means “graceful” and it is nice to be named after virtues as well.
 
Roma Semper, all you need is for one of them to be canonized so there won’t be any doubt. 🙂
