Can Catholics play games like Heroes of the Storm?

It’s a MOBA game that contains fantasy violence, mild language, and mild suggestive themes. Would it be sinful?

Not sure what that’s supposed to mean (I’m kinda getting the idea you tried a sucker punch or something).

Anyway. Play your game and have fun. As long as it does not affect your belief.
 
The basic question is where exposure to swearing, violence and sexuality in itself is a sin. I am saying that we can’t live in denial that these things are rife in society whether its video games, films, billboards of whatever. I see no virtue in shutting ourselves off from these things, we must understand the world to be able to influence it.
 
Maybe I am mistaken but you referred to Protestants being, but you referred (very uncharitable if I may) as being in an artificial bubblwme, and that these people lose all sense of the world. As I said, it was maybe an attempt at a cheap shot.

Basically you were not very nice and not anything like the Catholics I respect!

Because this is a discussions about video games and i’m not going to hijack the thread with this rabbit hole. Since good old Martin Luther there has been an exponential growth in the number of protestant denominations, have you ever pondered why? Do it as a thought exercise sometime and then you’ll get my point.

You are so correct. This thread is intended for that very purpose. Yet you added a cheap shot at Protestants.

Though not the purpose of the thread I would like to hear your “facts” as you stated? You did say there are facts somewhere or do you no say not?

This is quite serious and to be this "assured " you need to expand upon it as I have asked?

Protestants with a Puritan / fundamentalist strain… you can’t paint all Protestants with one brush. Some are so liberal that they hardly acknowledge sin at all.

Yes this is true, i was referring to fundamentalist protestants with my hyperbole.
 
From my readings, I have come across two modern Catholic objections to video games. Personally I think only games that touch on or approach sexual violence should be avoided like the plague.

The other objection out there to games is how they can “take over” someones life. I played them extensively for six or more years. I wasted an inordinate amount of time on them. My sleeping time suffered. I guess you could say I was a game addict for a while. When windows 7 came out, my games stopped working, or started causing problems, and I was able to escape the addiction. I never started back.

I don’t know why they are so addictive. Simple games don’t bother me, like plants vs zombies. Games from Blizzard Entertainment did. Especially Diablo II and III. That game I found out much later, was on Fr. Amorth’s “no-no” list, as it dealt a great deal with magic and used real demon names. Wow.

So play games if you want, but go into it with open eyes and treat them with caution, like it was an adult beverage.

Heroes of the Storm has characters from the game Diablo by blizzard entertainment. Maybe I should stop playing it. The Catholic Church doesn’t really talk much about bad video games.
 
I played Red Dead Redemption & GTA series so… also even God of War 😮
 
There are some really good games tho. Personally, i had the most fun w videogames when i was with my little brother and neighbors all gathered up playing WWE all stars or some multiplayer game together. We would be laughing a lot while beating each other up in the virtual world. Idk.

Well there are games we shouldnt play like ouja boards and diablo and other demonic stuff like that, although this game im not so sure about. My brother plays it though, he seems to be normal and outgoing with other people at church and school tho since he plays with friends. But he spends a lot of time on it…like he puts tremendous effort to win, then ends up sleeping at around 2-4 am. I mean look at the nature of a lot of games…its to manipulate other people so you could kill em and win, and with no purpose whatsoever. Well children play with guns and play make believe cowboys and robbers, but idk man. Counter strike is ok? i know catholics playing dota but clearly our parish priest knows that we could do better stuff with our time so he tells us it should be the least in our priorities.

Ive been playing video games all my life dude. I remember growin up watchin my neighbors, uncles and aunties play diablo 2, mortal kombat, basically all them gorey games, and once i got me filthy hands on em i couldnt stop. Most time i spent on a video game was about 2500 hours plus game time on cod blackops 1. Weve been playin most of great games and lost a lot of time which coulda been spent on smthn else more important. Brothers, neighbors and all, tryna spend a lot of our lives there in the battle zone. I dont know whats so fun about war games, i might as well coulda trained to be an actual soldier instead. My local priest told me not to play videogames cause it really makes me messed up, had to attend some healing session before and go to confession to wipe of the filth.

Until now im kinda itchin to play counter strike or smthn. Pls pray a hail mary for me thanks.
 
I don’t know anything about that game. You have to be the judge. Fr. Armorth spoke about Diablo, and Harry Potter, but I never wanted to take up wizardry after watching, and the books got a lot of kids interested in reading. For kids or adults already drawn to the occult, these things should be avoided, I will say that. For those who are well grounded in their faith, I would think it would be ok. Does that make sense?

I think it bears repeating that Diablo uses the name of real demons. That was mentioned directly by the exorcist. I suppose they were trying to be realistic, but they could have chosen other names. Names seem important to the exorcists, so if I had a son or daughter who was interested in gaming, I think I would take that game off the table. [Diablo]

Out of curiosity, what is the Catholic church’s view on Crusader Kings 2?
 
It makes sense that we need to be grounded in faith. I guess I’ll try to stop playing that game and those types of games since I’m not too sure.

All with prudence and moderation ,we have to be careful,we should not get addicted to Games
