Can Catholics Profess that it is Christ Alone Who Saves?

As Catholics we have nothing to hide, we are not some secret society with secret oaths. You can pick up a CC at any bookstore, so that you can see for yourself everything we believe. No secrets I promise. 🙂
I know what the CC says and I know that no matter what church is in question, there are varying thoughts, practices and many times beliefs. Catholics are not immune from this just as we are not.

And You know the answer - Go to a Catholic Mass - Its called
“THE EUCHARIST”
Are you enjoying yelling at me and insulting me?? You know very well that I am well aware of the Eucharist and I’m not at all interested in getting into a debate with you about your supposed exclusivity in the Eucharist.

The point is, I’m asking you. I know what your Catechism says. I know what point you are trying to make here as well.
well if you know what the cc says than why are you asking me? Do you question my faith? I am a Catholic I believe what is in the CC.

Then forget the question and I will forget that I asked you.

OMG. You really love to jump to conclusions don’t you? I asked a simple question. I never intended to jump into this.
👍

This is the problem with “reading into things”.
You asked a question, I answered the question you asked…

If you were “really asking” something else, I wuold expect that you would get to it in some followup question.

Peace
James

As an Anglican, I profess that it is by Christ alone that one is granted Salvation. Do Catholics profess this same thing?
Cranmer2010, I see that you are relatively new to CAF, so welcome and I hope that you will be able to learn what Catholics believe by continuing to ask questions. Questions are the beginning of understanding and enlightenment. In my initial reading of this thread I get a sense that you have a preconceived attitude towards Catholics. If my assessment is incorrect then I apologize.

However the initial question does seem a little loaded. A little bit of explanation as to why you wanted to ask the question may have diverted some “defensive” responses, and as you can see it has escalated into something that is now a bit too heated.

Unless there is an open and blatant assault on the Catholic faith, Let us Catholics not get into a heated finger pointing session but rather educate our brothers in Christ in the Catholic faith with kindness. I am sure if Cranmer2010 takes a moment to step back and review how this post started and progressed, he or she will see what I am talking about.

As MarkBrown stated in post #3, there have been many assumptions taught about Catholicism and the Catholic Church that were not in the Catechism and are not what Catholic believe.

Let me just say that I am not predisposed to make assumptions and utter stereotypical rhetoric about Catholics. I know more about Catholicism than most Catholics in church on Sunday morning (or Saturday night). I asked an honest question in which nobody has yet given a Catechism backed answer to. Catholicism professes Mary to be co-redemptrix of souls and co-mediatrix with Christ which would make Jesus not soley the redeemer of souls and Mary a mediator with Christ. Is this not correct?

This is by far the best response yet to my question. As an Anglican, I can in a sense concur with participating with good works, but not in the sense that they have anything to do with me being saved, but rather as a Christ inspired response to being saved.
OK, so there is really no debate.

Isn’t the simple answer you are looking for ?..I am saved by the Blood of Christ and I trust Him alone for my salvation.
I am rather curious to the reason for what seems to be a bated question, forgive me if I’m out of line. Peace, Carlan

It’s not really correct, even though it sounds like it should be! The wording of co-mediatrix and co-redemptrix are really bad. What is simply means is:

“co” in this case means “with” or “cooperated with”, so:

Mary was “with” our Redeemer and cooperated with our Redeemer and she was “with” our Mediator, or cooperated with our Mediator. That’s how I’ve heard Bishops, Priests, and other theologians explain it, and they all say the co-redemptrix, co-mediatrix is a badly way to word it as well. In other words, Jesus IS our sole Redeemer, and our sole Mediator. Mary was with Him and cooperated with Him.

I hope this helps!
