Hello,
I am wondering if it is permissible for catholics to be happy and grateful to God and people He used as His instruments when an individual who hurt or murdered lots of innocent people and/or poses a serious threat gets killed or even just dies naturally. I especially mean political leaders or warlords, but also ordinary murderers and serial killers. Nowadays, for instance, we hear every now and then in the news that such and such ISIS commander got killed. We know from the Bible that God is not happy when a sinner dies but on the other hand it is also an act of justice being administered in such an instance. Besides, many potential victims may evict death this way. So what would be a proper catholic reaction to such an event? Is it moral to feel and express satisfaction and pray to God to thank Him that things took such a turn? Thank you very much for your response!
