I have heard that sexual lubricants can inhibit sperm movement thereby reducing chances of pregnancy. Would these be all right for a Catholic to use or not?

If a married couple needed a lubricant in order to facilitate marital relations, it could be used for that purpose even though there may be an unwanted side effect of a reduced chance of pregnancy. Only if a couple were using such a lubricant for contraceptive purposes would it not be morally permissible. Such a couple should consult with their physician for information on available treatment options. If the couple is actively trying to have a baby but is hindered by the necessity of using a lubricant, the couple might also check with the Pope Paul VI Institute for the Study of Human Reproduction to see if the Institute has additional treatment options.
