Hi, my husband & I are practicing Catholics & have two young daughters under two. Our two year old is very difficult to handle at Mass & usually ends up walking around the foyer & stairway with one of us supervising. Trouble is that parent usually misses most of the Mass which can be incredibly frustrating… we try to keep her in the pew as long as possible but once she starts getting loud & upset we give in & don’t want to disturb everyone else etc.
I’m wondering if one of us went to Mass the night before (Sat) & then stayed home with her on Sunday (while the other two of us went) if by her missing Mass it would be a sin? Being her parents I understand that falls to our responsibility… so by not taking her to Mass are we as parents committing a moral sin?
Appreciate your advise,
Zoiell
p.s. Also, I welcome any parenting advise on how to occupy a restless two year old at Mass?
