hi…

My friend and I were discussing dreams today (as in when you go to bed, NOT daydream). We got onto the topic of - if you were to dream about for instance, something like pre-marital sex and you were not married. Would that be a sin if you didn’t wake up and shake it out of your mind? or Would it be a sin if in your sub conscience you actually began to enjoy what you saw??
My friend and I differed in opinion on this one. She thought no while I thought yes. But what are the boundaries on this one??

you can absolutely in no way ever sin in a dream, to sin requires full deliberation, advertence of the mind and consent of the will, you can neither sin while asleep or half asleep, half-adverting or half-consenting,

this is taught by the catholic church, it is in the catechism, and remember that the pope declares whether something is a sin or not, and if he says something is a sin, we must obey, and if not, we must trust.

it would do you better to understand that you cannot sin in your dreams, because you will never be able to control them, it will only torment you and you won’t be able to do anything about it.

God knows we can’t control our dreams, He would never make it a sin to do bad things in our dreams, remember, He is all fair.
