Hi,

My husband and I are farmers with his parents. We are at odds with his parents. We would like to shut down our farming operation on Sundays (except for feeding cows) and they do a LOT of work on Sunday.

They harvest on Sundays and ship out product by truck on Sundays.

Currently, out of respect for his father, my husband tries his best to not work on Sunday, but will take a turn in a harvest rotation if his father asks him.

When my husband takes over the farm entirely, I would like him to stop any and all unnecessary work on Sunday.

What should we do? Can farm operations continue on a Sunday?

Thank you kindly,

AlbertaRose

Hi Alberta,

A lot rides on what is considered “necessary” work. If the work is truly necessary, then it is allowed on Sunday. If it is not absolutely necessary, but you can make a lot more money with it, then one should not work and put God first. God is never out-done with generosity. He deserves our time and attentnion.
