What is the Church’s opinion on adopting frozen embryos and implanting them in the adoptive mother in order to bring a child to term?

The Church has not yet ruled on whether couples may “adopt” frozen embryos with the intent to implant them in the mother’s womb and carry them to term. At the present time, orthodox Catholic moral theologians have different opinions on whether or not such is a morally licit course of action. Some feel that the Church’s position against in-vitro fertilization means that it is not morally licit to do this; others feel that it is analogous to adopting a born child who was conceived through illicit means (e.g., rape, premarital relations).
