Can God the Father, creator of the universe be humble?

One might say that Jesus humbled himself by becoming man, but humility is a virtue (vir/virtus - for man) and humility is knowing and respecting one’s intrinsic self-worth, with restraint against a higher and inaccurate disposition of one’s self-worth.

Can God, the creator of all and perfect in every aspect, be said to possess humility?
God is the fountain of all virtue (among other things). We practice virtue by His grace and in the imitation of Christ who is God in the flesh.

So, if the virtue in Christ - the Man God - is your measure of humility in a divine being then - yes - God is humble.

Humility comes from the word humus - of the earth.

God (in Christ) humbled Himself by becoming “humus”. The First Person of the Trinity cannot be said to be humble because the word itself derives from creation’s relationship to the Creator.
…One in being with the Father, through Him (Jesus) all things were made…

God is humble.

…One in being with the Father, through Him (Jesus) all things were made…

God is humble.
In that sense yes but God the Father is not the one that become incarnate, it was God the Son. The Incarnate God the Son prayed to the non-incarnate God the Father.

So yes, we run into the mystery of the Trinity with this question.

God is creator of all. He created Humility therefore he needs not posses it or be possessed by It. Humility in it’s completeness is God and is one aspect of Him in His Greatness.:cool:

In recovery I learned a definition of true humility consisting of radical honesty/truth.

We neither add nor take away from the truth. We do not exagerrate or deflate the truth.

Given that definition, I would say God is humble in that He is truth.

False question: How could God be humble since He is the ultimate in all things. Nothing is greater than Him.

Human emotions (positive or negative) do not apply to God. God cannot be angry, jealous, upset etc etc. These are conditions of the human. God is not human.

God is ineffable and we have to leave it at that; otherwise we are making God in our own image as pagans formerly did.
