Can God forgive me? Am I worthy?

God loves us irrespective of our worth.

He showed this in Jesus Christ’s act of bringing us back to God in his sacrifice on the cross.

God is a God of love and mercy, not of condemnation.

This is the year of Mercy which Pope Francis declared.

Focus on His mercy this coming Mercy Sunday, the Sunday after Easter.

God Bless and welcome home!

Welcome home JayMot!

Try not to dwell on your sins. Remember that when we sincerely repent with all our heart, Jesus forgives us and all of our sins are erased from His memory. Jesus is Mercy! Since our merciful Jesus forgives us, who are we not to forgive ourselves?

You may find comfort and inner healing by reading about Jesus’ mercy in the Diary of St. Faustina, Divine Mercy in My Soul. You can also sign up to receive daily meditations on Divine Mercy here.

I will leave you with these words that Jesus spoke to St. Faustina:
The greater the sinner, the greater the right he has to My mercy.. (Diary, 723)
Conversation of the Merciful God with a Despairing Soul.
Jesus: What joy fills My Heart when you return to me. Because you are weak, I take you in My arms and carry you to the home of My Father.
Soul (as if awakening, asks fearfully): Is it possible that there yet is mercy for me?
Jesus: There is, My Child. You have a special claim on My mercy. Let it act in your poor soul; let the rays of grace enter your soul; they bring with them light, warmth, and life.
Soul: But fear fills me at the thought of my sins, and this terrible fear moves me to doubt Your goodness.
Jesus: My child, all your sins have not wounded My Heart as painfully as your present lack of trust does – that after so many efforts of My love and mercy, you should still doubt My goodness.
Soul: O Lord, save me from Yourself, for I perish. Be my Savior. O Lord, I am unable to say anything more; my pitiful heart is torn asunder; but You, O Lord…
Jesus does not let the soul finish but, raising it from the ground, from the depths of its misery, he leads it into the recesses of His Heart where all its sins disappear instantly, consumed by the flames of love. …]
Jesus (interrupting): Do not be absorbed in your misery – you are still too weak to speak of it – but, rather, gaze on My Heart filled with goodness, and be imbued with My sentiments. Strive for meekness and humility; be merciful to others, as I am to you; and, when you feel your strength failing, if you come to the fountain of mercy to fortify your soul, you will not grow weary on your journey. (Diary, 1486)
Jesus I Trust in You!

Good Morning and Happy Friday!,

So, I have returned to the Church. I went to my first confession in over 25 years last night. It was face-to-face which I found most comfortable. I spent about 15 minutes with the Pastor of the Church.

We had a wonderful discussion about my return and how I can best facilitate that. The Pastor told me it could be a little tough for me in the beginning, kind of like a recovering addict. He said that I will most likely have times where I would prefer to lead “my old life”. He suggested during these trying times to find peace with Jesus in some quiet, out-of the-way spot and just “reflect” with Him.

I have one issue. I thought for sure that I would walk out of the confessional and immediately feel so much better about myself. I do feel better, but only marginally. I guess my long litany of sins I just confessed made me ponder my worth. I am sure as the days go on and I get more actively involved in my church community, that I will begin to feel much more self worth.

Please pray for me.

Thanks to all for the support.

Good for you and praise God!

Remember, God loves you, irrespective of your worth.

In fact, we are worth so much in God’s eyes, that he became man in Jesus Christ, setting aside his own divinity and living as a man, among us stupid men. Then, he was put to death in the most horrible way.

But he rose to show us what we who believe in him, have hope for.

God loves us and has mercy and compassion for us, have no doubt about it.

We are the one’s who punish ourselves because we fail to love and have compassion, so how could God ?

Anyway, prayer is your foothold. Set aside a minimum of 1/2 hour per day, just to be in God’s presence.

God Bless

I too am happy for you–that you spoke with your priest and have returned to the faith. 😃 Just an added thought, you may wish to go to adoration, if your parish offers it. If not, and it’s something you can do, sit near the tabernacle where Jesus resides in the sacred Host. Simply sit in his presence. Don’t rehash your sins or think about your life–just give Jesus some company and let him speak to your soul through the Holy Spirit’s power. The act of giving God some time pleases him mightily, as does doing things you know you should do even if they are distasteful to you. All such little offerings of ourselves show him that we love him more than words can ever do.
