My husband was baptized Catholic and attended Catholic mass with his father’s family (his parents divorced) as a child and teenager, but his mother attended protestant churches and he was eventually confirmed Methodist at the age of 16 or 17 I believe. When I met him at 21 he wasn’t attending any chuch and since I am Catholic we went to Mass together. We were married in the Catholic church when we were both 24(we’re 30 now). The church did not require him to be confirmed, only to show proof of his Catholic baptism. The question of communion didn’t really arise because we chose the shorter ceremony without the full mass in light of the non-Catholic guests we would have. We have continued attending Mass together ever since and he has always gone for communion. I read on another apologetic site that as far as sacraments, you only needed to be baptized Catholic and of course be free of mortal sin, but it did not specifically say whether or not you had to be confirmed Catholic. Should he be receiving communion?
