Can hippies be Catholics?

Do you have any recommendations on readings for a friend that believes in the hippie perspective on living? I feel if she understood the Catholic faith, she would see there is a beautiful spiritual side that will help her in her journey towards truth.
 
What exactly do you mean by a “hippie perspective on living”? If you are referring to ideas of “free love,” then I would recommend giving her information about Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. But if you are referring to care for the planet and social justice for the poor and marginalized, then I recommend giving her information on how the Catholic Church recognizes and affirms her concern for those issues.
