Can holy water be mixed with regular water to make more holy water?

Most of the church is. You can find out more about the Eastern Catholic Churches (which ARE Catholic, but are decidedly not Roman) in the Eastern Catholic sub-forum, 3 up the main list from Liturgy and Sacraments.

Yeah. The Latin-Rite is beautiful too, I just think some abuses that crept in, in modern times need to be corrected. I think all the rites of the Church are beautiful. The Ruthenian-Rite-- what’s it like, how’s it different?

A blessed Solemnity of the Mother of God and Happy New Year to all!

Thank you for this discussion! I just discovered it today and found it very enlightening. It also raised another question in my mind; if any NaCl is okay, what about a chunk of halite (rock salt)? The only difference between that and table salt is that one is not ground down and the other is. Would the Church’s blessing of salt “take” on a piece of halite?

Just curious… someone did say above that there’s no such thing as a dumb question, right? 😉 God bless all.

Sure. Salt is salt; but remember that the Church is using the word in its common form, not its scientific form. Also, I’d be a little cautious about using too big a piece, as this can become a matter of silly drama (as we see all too often) rather than a true act of spirituality. My personal rule-of-thumb is never to use more salt than what immediately dissolves in the water.
 
many years ago say about 55 or more, I got some Holy water from Lourdes. I cherished it , It was in a glass bottle,i kept my eye on it & noticed it was evaporing slowly, so I did add more water to it, never wanting to lose my water from Lourdes. I still have it & the bottle is full & labeled so once i am not around they will know the story & not just disgard it. The Church that I attend, Holy water is available at all times
