You are getting into deep philosophical waters here. If they are part of the natural world then they fall under the laws of nature and can be, at least in principle, studied by science.
They are part of the natural world, since they animate matter. And they are studied by science, it’s called biology.

That is scary because it is science. Why do you scare people with your science? Why can’t you just sit back and let science go to the wayside?

The human soul is natural too. If it were otherwise there could potentially be a human without a soul or atleast a human could be defined without a soul.

There cannot be a living human being without a soul, only a dead body.

However, the taxonomic/biological definition of the human being does not include the soul.

ICXC NIKA.

Humans are indeed natural.
I am a human, however you may decide that I do not have a soul. This is an option for you.

The Church says…

So, as I said, since there can’t be a living human being without a soul, the soul must be natural. The Catholic doctrine of man defines a human as including a soul. In fact, it is the form of a man. A dead body is not a human being.

Regardless of what the biology is, Catholic theology would assert that a clone would have a soul if it were successfully brought to term.

I see your point now. I realize that biology is something that causes you to have to think.

Something happening naturally is not the same as being produced scientifically.
Why not? There is obviously some biochemical process causing a zygote to split. Science can reproduce either that biochemical process or else the trigger for the process.

Armadillos always have identical quads, so they have obviously developed the process to a controllable degree. All scientists have to do is to copy the natural control process that Armadillos use.
