I know it’s late to ask this question, but…

My high school English teacher passed away recently.he was not Catholic.

I did not go to the funeral but was hoping to go to the Protestant memorial service on Staurday (what most of her students are doing).

I would be going and careful not to recieve any type of Protestant communion or such, but it wouldn’t be sinful for me to attend, would it?

Thank you in advance.

There’s nothing wrong in attending. Just make sure you attend Mass! But you already knew that. 😃

I can’t believe that catholics need to worry about that, but I do want to extend my sympathy to the family involved and to you for your loss.

Maybe I should have forewarned that I am sadly on the scrupulous end of the spectrum…😦

Thank you for your concern about her and her family.

Pax,

Sebastiano

I have no doubt that you are a good person who is grappling with emotional stress over the loss of a loved one. I don’t worry about your end of the spectrum, becuase it is clear that you are a loving person. That is a good thing.

Sebastiano, I don’t worry about your end of the spectrum. I go to Mass with people in my heart that helped me go to Mass.

None of them were at any “right” end of the spectrum.

One of the Corporal Acts of Mercy is to bury the dead. I have yet to read that the dead must be Catholic. Besides, a memorial service is for the living - it is for you and your friends. :gopray2:
