Hi,

My best friend is getting married. She is Methodist and the groom to be is Catholic. They have decided to get married in a Methodist Church. He considers himself Catholic. He does not know the law or rules of the Church. She does not want to raise their children Catholic at all. Is it immoral to be apart of the wedding? What are the guidelines? Do I have a responsibility to tell him the guidelines?

acaito,

The first link should be helpful for explaining to your friend the process of getting a dispensation so his wedding will be valid and what his obligations are concerning raising their future children in the Catholic faith. The second link will explain to you under what circumstances we recommend participation in their wedding party. If you have any further questions or concerns that are not answered by these links, please contact Catholic Answers directly.
