Hi there,

I’m 17 years old, and I’m discerning a vocation. God is really drawing me to teaching at a seminary helping guys who are addicted to pornography and masturbation. I’ve heard the Holy Spirit works on attaction, so I’ve been praying about it. I’m just wondering, is this possible for me? I’m a female. Are there orders that might allow me to do this?

Laity, female as well as male are often teachers in seminaries, if sufficiently qualified. Advaned degrees in Theology or Philosophy for example.

However your choice of topics GOD WILLING, ought not to find signifiant revelance in seminarians IF THE SCREENING PROCESS that is supposed to be in place is working correctly.

Certainly screening in the PAST has been pathecically dismal. In theory they should never “have made the cut.”

Love and prayers…

ALWAYS PRAY “THY WILL BE DONE LORD!”

Pat,
Thanks. I appreciate this a lot. But, I really feel that there are some guys struggling with that who want to be priests, but can’t. I really want to help them. But hey, if God wants it, It’ll happen.

Thank you!

What you want to do would not be considered teaching. It would be part of the human sexuality program in the formation part of the seminary.

Where I go these are run by psychologists who specialize in that area.

Wouldnt the order a nun joined decide where a nun will go or at the very least have a major say in it? Even if you became a psychologist there is no guarantee that you will be allowed to be a part of the sexuality program for priests. I think that you feel the call to religious life very strongly and that wherever they put you will be a plus. There are other ways to help men such as through penance, sacrifices and prayers.
