I am a baptized Catholic and also pro-choice. Not pro-abortion - I wouldn’t have one myself - but I support the right to choose. I have been away from the faith for quite a number of years and have just started attending Mass again with my mother. I have not been participating in Holy Communion however. Would I be able to if I went to Confession and confessed this to a priest? Or not? Thank you.

Hi,

Congratulations on coming back to the Catholic Church. I only hope that you recognize that such a decision requires the desire to put Jesus Christ above everything and a willingness to be as honest as you can possibly be. He deserves no less.

In light of this, you need to stop kidding yourself. To support the so-called woman’s right to choose requires that one acknowledge what that choice is. It is the choice to kill her un-born baby or not. Human beings do not have the right to choose to kill another innocent human being. To support such a choice is to support abortion. Such support is a mortal sin. One may not receive the Lord in Holy Communion while in the state of mortal sin. I will pray for you during my daily hour before the Blessed Sacrament that you will repent.
