Can I be sinless?

Yes, you can be sinless, in the same sense stainless steel stains less.

The old Adam was formed from the good earth before it became corrupted by man’s inequity. Mary never sinned by the Grace of God, as she was the New Earth, that was never corrupted, from which was formed New Adam.

Can you be sinless? Yes

Was Mary sinless? Yes

The proof of this is in the teaching of the Church. If you don’t think that the Church is the living word of God, then I can’t offer any evidence that you will accept as “proof”.

Also there are many groups out there that have very different definitions of what sin is. Maybe by your definition you are sinless. I have no idea. Do you believe in original sin? Do you believing in immaculate conception? You see? I have no idea what your beliefs are.

Romans 3:23 says “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Now as a Catholic I don’t think this applied to Mary, but that’s another story.

This is a great question and one that separates many protestants from Catholics, I think.

As a convert to Catholicism, my answer is yes, I can be sinless; in fact, I’m called to be sinless; this is the whole purpose of my life. Remember, scripture said: be holy as your heavenly father is holy (matthew 5:48). Is God going to ask us to do something if it is not even possible? Obviously not.

Your instinct is right. If Mary can do it, you can do it, too.

This is the hope that pushes me to love everyday, no matter how hard things are, because to be holy is a great beautiful thing. It is what we are made to be. It is what fulfills us. It is what makes us happy.

If a christian doesn’t even believe he can be holy and sinless, then his faith in God is certainly limited. God doesn’t just cover up our dirt and grime with the cloak of Christ. He actually clean us up and make us beautiful inside and out, just like Christ.

Go right ahead and pursue this with God. Ask Him to be make you sinless. It’s going to be painful as He reveals more of your weaknesses to you, but it’s going to be worth every pain and more. God bless.

Would **shalom_molahs ** please tell us what his definition of sin is and where he derived his definition?

Can I be sinless? I know that God is sinless but can I be sinless?
The denial of the doctrine of original sin is stubborn rebellion against the authority of the Church. The attempt to claim it as a moral high ground belies something far more sinister than a simple doctrinal dispute, but rather the first step in a long journey of theological confusion that darkens the mind and in the end leaves one devoid of any understanding of the Gospel; hopelessly lost in a maze of doctrinal error, such is one, shalom_molahs.

To reject the Church’s teaching on original sin is to reject infant Baptism. And to reject infant Baptism is a direct attack on Christendom itself.

Shalom has set himself up as an example of Christian perfection, his feet firmly planted on a heretical philosophy of infant innocence. And judging himself against a false understanding of the nature of sin, he sees himself in the mirror of the Queen, rather than the mirror of Justice

Mirror, mirror on the wall,

Who is Holiest of them all?

Why you, my dear Molah,

Are a good man, it is true;

But the Baptized child,

Is a thousand times Holier that you.

Shalom_molahs strikes at the heart of the Gospel, and is rewarded with a pig’s heart instead. His vain attempts at a systematic theology, a valiant effort it is true, are doomed to failure, for his stepchild is Truth.

One day Shalom will recognize this damnable dunce for who he is, and staring narrowly upon him with the deepest of dread, he will recognize the one who switched the Gospel of peace, for a pair of red hot shoes instead.

All this talk about Mary being sinless and Shalom asking if he can be.

Well Mary did not commit any sins in her life.

Shalom, maybe you have, but starting right now you could try and not commit anymore.

The biggest thing I have not seen anyone mention (MayRbMPray) was that Mary was born without original sin. Shalom, sorry, but you will always have the stain of original sin (unless you have been baptized).

Can I be sinless? I know that God is sinless but can I be sinless?
God gives sufficient grace for us to be free of all mortal sins, so it is inexcusable for us to fall under mortal sins and also inexcusable for us not to confess them and make satisfaction for them. So, it is certainly possible to be sinless in regards to mortal sins. However, venial sins will always be around. All Saints with the exception of the Blessed Virgin Mary have had to deal with venial sins and atone for them daily. It is due to the concupiscence of the flesh caused by Original Sin which we would still have to fight against. It is an endless spiritual battle which can at times be hard due to all the problems that this imperfect world corrupted by sin throws at us.

This is not a chat room, it’s not live. One of the things you need to develop is the virtue of patience. For any question, give it a day or so.

As to the OP, There are many who have been sinless. Those who were martyred or otherwise died in infancy before committing any personal sin are, by definition, sinless.
As for you, You can be sinless when you become pregnant with the Son of God by the Holy Spirit it may be conceivable, short of that, I’m not buying it.

So, there are two circumstances under which you may be sinless, do either of those apply? Clearly not.
Besides, it’s my guess that you have already committed personal sins so it is too late for you to be sinless.

Also where do you get this idea/theory about “special grace” to be sinless?
From ‘kecharitomene’ Luke 1:28 (the Greek for ‘full-of-grace’)

search CAF for ‘kecharitomene’, there have been lots of threads
